Things We Wish People Knew as Wedding Photographers – Part I
As a wedding photographers, we’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories. Through each unique celebration, we’ve learnt a few things that would really make a difference in the experience not just for us, but, more importantly, for you! Here are some insights that we wish all couples and their loved ones knew:
Please Don't Rush Down the Aisle/Exit!
The walk down the aisle or exit is one of the most cherished moments of the day. Take your time! Not only does it allow you to soak in the moment, but it gives your photographers the opportunity to capture those genuine emotions as you approach your partner.
Postioning is Key
When it comes to capturing wonderful shots during the ceremony, where you stand matters! If your wedding party is aware of this and stands in the middle of the aisle, it helps us photographers get those perfect angles without obstruction, resulting in beautiful photos you’ll treasure for years to come.

Don’t Rush The First Kiss
The ‘first kiss’ moment is iconic, and it deserves a pause. Allowing a moment of stillness will not only provide a breathtaking image but also enhance your experience. The kiss signifies a beautiful step in your journey together, so take it in!
A Solid Timeline is Crucial
Creating and sticking to a well-thought-out timeline is key for capturing all those special little moments. It ensures that we have enough time for everything from portraits to candid shots, so all the special details you’ve planned don’t go unnoticed.

Avoid Speckled Light or Backlit Situations
Lighting plays a crucial role in photography. If you can, try to have your ceremony in areas with soft lighting or even shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause harsh shadows, or backlit scenarios that might result in a ‘halo’ effect without showing your faces clearly.
Choose a Fantastic Team That Vibes Well Together!
Your wedding day will run smoother if the vendor team gets along. When everyone is on the same page and communicates well, you’ll find that the atmosphere is more relaxed, resulting in more authentic moments to capture.
Prioritize Recommendations When Hiring Vendors
Instead of solely focusing on budget, consider recommendations and reviews when selecting your vendors. Trusted referrals often lead to a better experience, as these professionals will know each other’s work styles, ensuring fluid collaboration on your big day.
We hope you find these tips helpful, whether big or small. Each insight comes from our experiences this season, and we wanted to share them to help you make informed choices for your wedding day.
